Lake Como is a glacial lake (originated from a glacier) in Lombardy, Italy. With an area of 146 km², it’s the third largest lake in Italy, after Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore. It is also one of the deepest lakes in Europe with a depth of 410 m.
Shaped like an upside-down “Y” or like a back-to-front “?” the lake’s northern branch starts at the town of Colico, while the towns of Como and Lecco are at the southwestern and southeastern branches respectively. The Lake Como thrives largely on waters of Adda River, which enters the lake near Colico and flows out at Lecco.
