The town of Caccamo lies on the slopes of the Mount San Calogero in the Madonie Mountains. The main occupation of the town’s residents is agriculture. The most impressive and well-known heritage of the town is an ancient Norman Castle built in 1100. The castle is perched on a cliff and looks down regally at the deep valley below. During the Baroque era, the castle was re constructed and its towers and its indented walls are made of white stone. The interiors of the castles, especially the Sala delle Armi with its fine coffered ceiling and the Sala della Congiura, are very beautiful.
