Monasterace is a small town perched on a hillside overlooking the marina and sea, just a short drive north of Roccella Jonica and Bianca. A traditional Calabrian town, it is dotted with churches, narrow streets and has plenty of character.
Tourists flock to Calabria and the Ionian coastline because of its climate where temperatures are mild even in winter. Monasterace is known for its food, particularly the freshly caught fish, locally grown fruit and vegetables, and dishes made with mushrooms, pasta, peas and beans.
